Today I’m so grateful for an amazing day in my classroom with my students. All too often, we teachers get overwhelmed by all of the non-teaching responsibilities that are a part of our world. It is so easy to get bogged down and focused on the weight of the work and the burden of the “other stuff”…paper work, meetings, events and activities that pull kids from our classrooms, and a million other things that keep us from our work. We get pulled in so many directions that we become a chain of islands rather than a unified country working toward a common goal. But…days like today…days that allow for focused attention, meaningful study, and, dare I say, fun in the classroom are the reason why I became and still am a teacher.
